Privacy Policy

HBB has established this Privacy Policy to explain how it protects and manages the personal information that it collects from you online.

Consent for Collection, Use and Disclosure
Your use of the Limestone Coast Home Based Business Network (HBB) website and/or your registration for HBB Membership constitute your consent to the terms of this Privacy Policy.  If you do not agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not use the HBB website or register for HBB Membership.
HBB may occasionally update this Privacy Policy. In addition, HBB will seek a Member’s prior consent, by email, for any new uses or proposed disclosures of information collected from the Member prior to the change. HBB will notify Members by email of changes to this policy that will affect information collected from them in the future. In certain circumstances, however, HBB will not inform and obtain the consent of the Member, such as in connection with an investigation of a breach of an agreement, contravention of laws, an emergency where the life, health or security of an individual is threatened, the collection of a debt or in compliance with the request of a law enforcement agency or a court order.
A Member may withdraw his or her consent for collection, use and disclosure at any time by sending an email to hbb@serde.org.au. Please note that, if you do, HBB reserves the right to suspend your Membership and its provision of services to you depending on the circumstances for the withdrawal.

Accountability
HBB collects, at the time of your registration and/or your sign-up to its newsletter, certain “personal information” (information that personally identifies you) including but not limited to your name, email address, home or work address, telephone number and information about your business.
HBB has implemented this Privacy Policy to protect personal information received from its Members.  The Privacy Policy also provides that HBB will use appropriate contractual means to establish a comparable level of protection for personal information that is sent for processing by third parties on HBB’s behalf (e.g. hard copy Business Directory production).
HBB has designated responsibility for your personal information to its Core Group, who ensure compliance with the principles in this Privacy Policy.  Other HBB Members may be delegated to act on behalf of the Core Group.

Collecting Personal Information for Identified Purposes
HBB collects and uses personal information for the following Identified Purposes:
a) to understand Member needs regarding HBB’s services;
b) to develop and provide our website and services for our Members;
c) to fulfill your requests for services or information;
d) to communicate with Members and site visitors, when necessary, and to inform Members of news and events, as well as of other services available from HBB, its Members and third parties;
e) to authorise HBB to publish Member business details in its Member Directory area of the HBB website and any hard copy Business Directory published by HBB on behalf of its Members;
f) to bill accounts and maintain Membership payment records;
g) to comply with any applicable law, regulation, legal process or government request;
h) to respond to a legitimate claim, or to address our reasonable belief, that you are violating the rights of any third party or any of the agreements or policies that govern your use of the HBB site or any HBB service;
i) to protect the services or rights of HBB and its Members, including but not limited to the security or integrity of the HBB website; and
j) to identify and resolve technical problems concerning HBB’s website and services.

If we hire external organisations to provide products or services on our behalf, then if necessary we will only provide those organisations the personal information they need for the Identified Purposes, and we will limit their rights to use and further disclose your personal information as appropriate in the course of their work for us.

Limiting the Collection of Personal Information
HBB limits its collection of personal information to only that information which is necessary for the Identified Purposes.  HBB will not knowingly collect any personal information from non-Members of HBB other than from third parties who permit their information to be known to HBB Members (e,g, external organisations seeking to provide seminars to HBB Members).

Disclosure and Retention of Personal Information
HBB will not sell, rent or disclose your personal information to anyone else, except:
a) to someone you have designated to act as your agent, for one or more of the Identified Purposes (listed in Section 3, above);
b) to HBB’s Core Group, independent contractors, affiliates, consultants, business associates, service providers, suppliers and agents, acting on HBB’s behalf for any of the Identified Purposes;
c) as necessary if HBB has reason to believe that disclosure is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference (either intentionally or unintentionally) with HBB’s rights or property, other users of HBB’s website or services, or anyone else that could be harmed by such activities; and
d) to respond to judicial process and provide information to law enforcement agencies or in connection with an investigation on matters related to public safety, as permitted by law, or otherwise as required by law.
In addition, as we continue to develop our Membership, our Members may decide to merge with another Home Based Business Network group. In the event that HBB merges with another similar group, your personal information may be one of the merged assets.
Should your Membership become inactive (that is, if you request to be removed from our HBB database or cease to pay your Membership fees), HBB will retain your personal information in its archives. Your information will then be used only as necessary for taxation purposes or to prove HBB’s compliance with any applicable law.

Accuracy of Personal Information
HBB will use reasonable efforts to keep Member’s personal information accurate for the Identified Purposes, and for minimising the possibility of making inappropriate Member decisions based on such information.  Members are responsible for informing HBB about changes to their personal information.  You can do this by calling HBB on (08) 8723 1050 or sending an email to hbb@serde.org.au. HBB will use new or updated personal information it receives from its Members to update its own records.

Security Safeguards
HBB will use all reasonable efforts to protect Members’ personal information.

Access to Personal Information by Members
HBB will afford you a reasonable opportunity to review the personal information in your file, if you so request, by calling (08) 8723 1050, or by email to hbb@serde.org.au.
Only Members have the right to request that any inaccurate or incomplete information in their personal file be amended as appropriate, by contacting HBB as described above. HBB will promptly correct such personal information. Members will not be allowed to change any personal information of another Member.
